Pump optimization creates the prerequisite for widened fields of application in plastics production
Polymer processes require units that meet the high demands of modern polymer production, safely convey high and low viscosity polymer melts through the system and enable high pressure to be built up. External gear pumps have proved particularly suitable for these applications thanks to their high volumetric efficiency and the flexibility of their delivery parameters (volume flow, speed range).
As the world market leader, MAAG Pump Systems has achieved a milestone in the plastics industry by establishing the new x6 class pump technology. By optimizing the interior geometry, resulting in improved volumetric efficiency, it was possible to extend the process window regarding the characteristics (pressure and viscosity) of the pumped medium. This enabled the working window for the maximum achievable differential pressure for low-viscosity products to be increased by about 80%. In addition, up to 40% higher throughput rates can now be achieved at the same bearing temperatures.
